Blue Hour Specialty

Twilight Real Estate Photography

Twilight exterior shots — captured in the 20-minute blue hour just after sunset — are some of the most powerful MLS cover images money can buy. Pool lights, landscape lighting, warm interior glow spilling through windows, dramatic sky above. For luxury listings, Gulf-front properties, or any home with a strong pool/outdoor setup, a twilight shot sells.

Twilight is a short window and requires timing the whole shoot around sunset — add it to a listing shoot when the exterior and lighting warrant the drama.

When Twilight Is Worth It

Not every listing needs it — but when it works, it works

Twilight photography shines on homes with (1) a well-designed pool and lanai, (2) architectural landscape lighting, (3) a strong Gulf, bay, or water view, or (4) a $1M+ price point where buyers expect premium marketing. For a modest interior-focused listing, standard daytime photography is usually a better investment. We’ll give you an honest take on whether twilight is worth it for your specific property when you inquire.

FAQ

Common questions

When is the best time of year for twilight real estate photos?
Twilight shots work year-round in Tampa Bay, but the window is tighter in summer (shorter blue hour, more humidity) and more generous in winter and fall. For most listings, Oct through Apr gives the cleanest twilight light.
How long does a twilight shoot take?
The twilight window itself is about 20 minutes. We arrive 45 to 60 minutes before sunset to set up lighting, test angles, and have all interior and exterior lights on by the time blue hour starts.
Should all my listings have twilight shots?
No. Twilight works best on luxury listings, homes with great pool/lanai setups, waterfront properties, or anywhere the exterior lighting is a strong feature. For a modest interior-focused listing, standard daytime photos are a better use of your marketing budget.
What if the weather is bad at sunset?
If clouds, rain, or weather kill the twilight window on shoot day, we complete standard daytime photography on schedule and return for twilight on the next clear evening at no extra travel charge.
Do you turn on all the lights?
Yes. Every interior light gets turned on, pool lights, landscape lighting, pathway lighting, lanai, and any accent lighting on the exterior. The look depends on it. We walk through the house with you (or the agent) before sunset to make sure nothing is missed.
